September Already?
Time marches on and those of us who are older feel the increase of its pace. It just seems like last week that we moved in and already it's been five. The days are shorter and the nights are colder. The dew is heavy on the ground. The newspaper is telling people not to put feed in the bird feeders because it brings the bears. Oh joy! The other night we woke up to the screeching sounds of raccoons either killing or mating - who can tell? The sumac are red and the kids are back to school next week. The death knell of summer has clanged - BUT...
Not for me, is the bell tolling! Still no job and right now I am happy to be spending time here, sorting and cleaning, helping Pete in the office, and spending time with the kids.
Hope and Gregg are renovating - big time. New tile, carpet, and paint. We have had quality time with Hope, Syd, and Liam. Syd had her first sleepover at the house last Saturday and with the exception of me having to spend the night in her bed (wiggly monster that she is), it was a great experience. This weekend will be Hopey's two and Sarah's puppy: excellent fun!!
Pete has been going crazy wearing two hats: work and real estate. Hopefully, by the end of the week he will have closed a couple of deals. There has hardly been any time to decorate and unpack but tonight I cornered him and his drill and we hung some mirrors and pictures and the place is starting to really come together.
I head back to Orangeville next weekend to bring mom and dad home (oh Pete is pleased about this let me tell you!) and attend the tree dedication service at Island Lake park. I look forward to staying with friends, catching up on gossip, and having lots of laughs.
Once back home I'll hit the road, visit some schools, and try to make myself known. Hopefully there will be some work for me by mid fall. Keep your fingers/toes/nose crossed! Love to all,
Deb
